You will find much regarding the specific purpose for this site in the menu item “About.” I would encourage you to read it if you have not already done so.
What I would like to share with you today is why I determined that designing a website and entering what is referred to as the blogosphere was an idea worthy of pursuing.
From the start of this pandemic, my experience has been one of daily hearing and reading in the media, nothing short of full scale fear mongering, with our president (God help him) and the news media providing daily doses of bad news; news with so many contradictions and uncertainties it became very difficult to know what was true, especially given the political motivations of many who were delivering the information.
There is no doubt the pandemic is real. Hundreds of thousands of people are dying and grieving as a result of the disease; while even more have grave concerns regarding the social and economic consequences that await us in the future.
What is one to do in such a time as this; a time of paralyzing fear, fretful anxiety, resentful anger and inconsolable grief; a time when everything seems (and in reality is) out of our control? Where does one find truth that will bring us enduring peace, reasonable comfort and sustainable hope in such a world as this?
Being a Christian and thus having a Biblical world view, my answer to this latter question is that the only truth that will provide such peace, comfort and hope is the eternal truth that an infinitely wise, infinitely powerful God, who has revealed Himself in the person and work of Jesus Christ, is in control of all that occurs in this world; and that He has promised to work out all things that occur in this world for the ultimate and eternal good of those who love Him, those who willingly live their lives according to the wise counsel of His will.
In such a time as this, I desperately wanted to find a way to encourage those of my family and friends who have embraced this truth to continue to do so, and to help them draw nearer to God than ever before. For family and friends who had not, I wanted to be able to regularly encourage them to do so. My first impulse was to send them regular text messages with words of encouragement from the Bible and pointing them to resources to strengthen or encourage their faith in Jesus. After much deliberation, I concluded that this could prove to be both cumbersome and intrusive.
I believe that is when God put it on my heart to do this site, which could be accessed daily, providing faith building information and resources not only for family and friends who chose to read it, but also for others who God may direct to it.
I believe that God is speaking loudly through this pandemic, crying out in mercy and love “ Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28-30)
I am hopeful that all who are reading this, who have entrusted your life to Jesus, will find this site helpful in your quest for ever increasing peace and eternal joy in Him. For others, I pray that our gracious and merciful God will use the information and resources found on this site to draw you to Himself.
