"For Such A Time As This" (Esther 4:14)

Why Jesus Matters (cont.)

Jesus Christ matters as the One who is preeminent among all mankind because:

He is the One who Joseph was instructed by an angel to give Him the name of Jesus, for He would   save His people (those who believe and entrust their lives to Him), from the eternal consequences of their sin (Matthew 1:20-21).

He is the One who offers us redemption, the full forgiveness of our sins (Ephesians 1:7).

He is our source of true rest from the burden of sin, from our sinful pursuit of self-righteousness and from our vain pursuit of true and lasting happiness in this present evil world (Matthew 11:25-30).

He is our righteousness, the One who lived the perfectly sinless life necessary to enter and live in God’s presence, on behalf of all who entrust their life to Him (2 Corinthians 5:21) (Philippians 3:7-9).

He is the true vine, the One who apart from spiritual union with Him we can do nothing that pleases and honors and glorifies God (John 15:6).

He is the one who sends the Holy Spirit to restore us to spiritual life (Ephesians 2:1-6), who   will now not only come to dwell with us, but in us (John 14:16-17), changing our hearts so that we have the desire and ability to know and love God intimately and keep His commandments (Ezekiel 36: 25-27).

He is the Bread of Life, the One who provides spiritual nourishment to sustain all of His people through their sojourn in this world (John 6:35).

He is the only mediator between sinful man and Holy God (1 Timothy 2:5-6), the One who ever lives to make intercession for His people (Hebrews 7:25), enabling us to persevere in faith so that our faith does not fail and we can stand faultless before His throne of judgment filled with joy at the end of our life or at His second coming (Jude 24-25).

He is the Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace  (Isaiah 9:6-7); the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Revelation 19:11-16), who at His second coming, which could be any day, will establish an everlasting Kingdom wherein He will reign with His people over a new earth and universe where there will be no more sin, suffering or death (Daniel 7:13-14) (Revelation 21:1-5).

He is the mediator of the new and better covenant God has made with men who will entrust their lives to Jesus (Hebrews 8:6) (Jeremiah 31:31-34).

He is the ultimate and defining expression of the love of God (Jeremiah 31:3), laying down His life for those who will repent of their sin and trust in His love (Romans 5:8) (John 15:13).

He is “our hope of glory”- our only hope of ever having the life with God for which we were created to enjoy, our only hope of being restored to the glorious image of God in which man was originally created (Colossians 1:27) (Romans 5:1-2) (Psalm 8:4-5)

He has abolished death as an enemy to be dreaded and brought eternal life and immortality to those who believe the Gospel, the good news of all He has accomplished to rescue men and women from Hell and qualify them for Heaven (Hebrews 2:13-14) (2 Timothy 1:9-10) (John 5:24).

He is the One who believers will be made like when we see Him at his second coming, restored to the glorious image of God in which we were created before the fall of Adam (1 John 3:2-3).

He is the One who at His second coming will resurrect and transform our lowly, sin corrupted bodies into conformity to the beauty and excellence of His glorious immortal body (Philippians 3:20 – 21).

He is the One coming in the clouds from Heaven (Mark 13:24-26), with His mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, while at the same time to be admired by and rejoiced in by all who do (2 Thessalonians 1: 7- 10).

He is the One who has all authority in Heaven and Earth (Matthew 28:18), whom God has highly exalted,  “and given Him the name which is above every name,  that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,  and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father(Philippians 2:6-11).

Thus, if  you have not yet entrusted your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord, the ruler of your heart; and as your all-sufficient savior from the eternal consequences of your sin, pursuing Him as object of your deepest love and source of your greatest joy, I would implore you to do so today.
