(I am taking a break from the topic of sin, to encourage you with the following.)
In a time of non-stop fear mongering and government overreach regarding COVID 19, civil unrest and violent demonstrations, along with mean spirited/divisive political maneuvering, we look to the prophet Isaiah who encourages God’s people with the following:
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength” (Isaiah 26:3-4).
Similarly, the Apostle Paul in Colossians 3:1-4 offers wise counsel to those who have entrusted their lives to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. He writes,
“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”
Pastor Richard Caldwell of Founders Baptist Church has a wonderful exposition on Romans 8:18-24, that I believe will help us get our minds (and hearts) off the insanity of this present chaotic world, and on the one who alone can give us peace and hope in the midst of it, Jesus Christ. The sermon is titled The Greatness of the Believer’s Future Glory. Click on this title to listen. I hope you will be as encouraged and strengthen by it as I was.
